Between a Rock and a Hard Place
This week I read the non-fiction book Between a Rock and a Hard Place written by Aron Ralston. This book is an autobiography about Aron Raltson and his experience in Blue John Canyon, Utah. He finds himself with his arm trapped between the canyon walls and a fallen boulder. He is forced to amputate his arm using only a dull multi tool in order to save his life. Although it seems like I just gave away the entire plot I did not and there is a lot that happens in the book. This book was really well written and you really got to know the main character. There was a lot of great details in this book. Overall I definitely recommend this book to anyone, no matter the type of books they normally like to read because it is a really influential book.

City of Bones
This week I read the fiction book City of Bones written by Cassandra Clare. This book is about a girl named Clary who after going to a club and witnesses a murder finds out about the world of shadow hunters and how she is connected to it all. This book is really good it is definitely not for everyone because of the type of book it is. It is obviously very fiction but for those of you who do like these types of books it has a really well developed plot and throughout the book you really get to know the characters. This is also in a series of five. Overall I would definitely recommend this book.

Sold
This week I read a really intense book called Sold written by Patricia McCormick. This book is about a thirteen year old girl living in a poor family in Nepal. After monsoons wash away and destroy her families farm she must go and find work to support her family. Her stepfather takes her to become a prostitute. This book is really intense and the majority of the book has really mature content. It it really well written but it shouldn't be read by anyone not ready for this type of content.

Out of the Easy
I read Out of the Easy written by Ruta Sepetys. This book is fiction and takes place in the 1950s. Josie and her mother move to New Orleans and her mother becomes a prostitute. Josie goes to work at a book store where she deals with being a prostitutes daughter Suddenly there is a murder and Josie is caught in the middle of it, torn on the decisions that she is making. This book has a lot of warnings because of some of the things mentioned in the book. I thought that this book had a really interesting plot and it made me want to keep reading it all the way through the book. Overall I would definitely recommend this book, it is really well written.

13 Little Blue Envelopes
Over the past few weeks including the trip I read 13 Little Blue Envelopes written by Maureen Johnson. This book is about a girl named Virginia who is currently in the summer before she begins her senior year of high school. After receiving 13 letters from her deceased aunt she goes on a journey through Europe following a specific set of rules her aunt left for her. This book was okay. The plot was interesting and there was a something happening, but the quality of writing was not the best and there was certain moments where the book became boring and pretty hard to get through. Although the characters were really well developed as well as the setting. Overall there were ups and downs of this book I think that depending on the person and the style of writing they like someone could really enjoy this book.

This Lullaby written by Sarah Dessen is about a girl named Remy has set rules for herself about dating; Never get too serious, never break your heart, and never date a musician. But then Remy meets a new guy named Dexter, a musician that causes her to break all of her rules. This book was good but also a little weird. The characters were well developed, but the quality of writing is not the highest.

Heist Society
This week I read Heist Society written by Ally Carter. This book is the first in a series of four. This book is about a girl named Kat who comes from a family of thieves. She tries to leave her life of schemes and crime to go to a private boarding school. After her father is accused for stealing a priceless painting she must return back to her "normal" life and steal back the painting. This was a really good book and I definitely want to read the other books in the series. The character was really well developed and the quality of writing was pretty good. Overall I would recommend this book to anyone who likes fiction-action-mystery type books.
